The opening of Terminal 1 and the launch of the first phase of the Snapshots San Diego project is more than a milestone for travelers—it’s a celebration of the people, places, and the unexpected that shape our region’s identity.
Snapshots San Diego shines a light on local organizations whose work preserves, shares, and enriches San Diego’s culture and history. Through photography, artifacts, and storytelling, these groups bring their unique perspectives into Terminal 1, giving travelers an authentic sense of the community they’re entering or leaving.
We’re proud that the Escondido History Center has been chosen as one of this project’s flagship participants. By sharing its collections and stories, the History Center helps connect visitors to the deeper roots of our region, reminding us that San Diego’s future is built on a rich and diverse past.
This is not just about a new terminal—it’s about weaving the voices of our community into a space that millions of travelers pass through each year. Whether you’re flying in or out, Terminal 1 now offers a meaningful glimpse into the culture and history that makes our beautiful San Diego so unique!
